Portraits are generally categorized by size for pricing purposes:
Head & Shoulders: typically 24x20” or 30x24”
Half-Figure with Hands: typically a boardroom portrait, <36x30”
Three-Quarter Figure: 40x30” to 48x36”
Full Figure: 48x36 or larger, includes feet
Once concerns on size, setting, wardrobe and delivery date, are considered, John will travel to the client’s location. This visit includes a one-hour photography session where the client and the artist will together select an image that will serve as the main reference for the portrait.
After returning to the studio, John creates a small digital study to share with the client for approval. This allows the client to preview what the final portrait will look like, and creates an opportunity for the client to offer final comments before the painting begins. Mr. Ennis will then complete the portrait and deliver or ship it to the client.
